Sewaly Stainless offers seamless and welded stainless tube for a number of applications requiring corrosion resistance, heat resistance and strength. Due to its unique qualities, stainless steel is better suited to different applications. Why choose Stainless Steel? Choose the right grade by considering the following:
How can you determine the environment that is corrosive to steel? By examining its composition, such as chloride levels, chemical concentrations and atmospheric conditions. Lower alloyed types resist corrosion both in atmospheric and water environments. Higher alloyed varieties can resist in many acids, alkaline and chlorine-containing environments.
Is the temperature high? The higher the temperature, the faster the corrosion rate. High chromium-and nickel-alloyed alloys are designed to resist scaling, and still retain strength even when exposed to high temperatures. Low temperatures may require some austenitic.
Is strength required? Steels with higher strength, such as austenitic or duplex steels and martensitic or PH, can be selected. It is also influenced by the welding and forming processes. Austenitic stainless steels (300 series), are the most formable. They can be deep drawn and formed to a very high degree.
Sewaly specializes in 304 and 318 , the two most common grades of stainless steel. It is possible that 316 will be more expensive due to the increased nickel content and addition of molybdenum. 316 is more resistant to chlorides than 304. For applications using milder chemicals, type 304 may be appropriate.
